More snow on the way
School closed the remainder of the week

Williams Unified Schools will remain closed through the end of the week due to winter storms. A winter storm watch remains in effect through Friday evening in elevations above 7,000 feet.

Forecasters from the National Weather Service in Flagstaff say snow showers will end this morning with an inch or less of additional accumulation. Heavy snow returns later tonight and will continue through Friday evening.

Snow levels will begin at approximately 5,500 feet and then rise to nearly 7,000 feet late tomorrow, eventually falling to 4,000 feet Friday. Snow accumulations of 30-50 inches are expected by Friday evening above 7,000 feet.

In addition, strong winds tomorrow night will bring near blizzard conditions with whiteout visibilities and potentially damaging gusts.

A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of falling snow will cause difficulty traveling. Motorists should be prepared for slipper roads and limited visibility.
