• To sweeten a coffee pot made of metal other than aluminum, Westinghouse home economists occasionally substitute a tablespoon of soda for coffee, add water and then make believe they're making coffee. Rinse thoroughly with hot water after this brew has been emptied from the pot. This removes any trace of staleness.

Feb. 25, 1960

• Next Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. the men of St. John's Episcopal Church will be serving their Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper at the Odd Fellows Hall. Tickets are on sale in advance at 85 cents for adults and 50 cents for children under 12. The menu includes pancakes, hot chocolate, coffee, butter and syrup. The men promise to give as many servings of pancakes as a person can eat.

Feb. 27, 1975

• Brice Brailliar and Carl Cureton were honored Monday night as charter members in the Williams Lions Club and also for their active membership for the past 30 years. The Williams Lions Club celebrated its 30th anniversary Feb. 24 when Lions, their wives and special guests met in the Sky Room of Rod's Steak House for a 7 o'clock dinner.
