Snow immobilizes northern Arizona
Winter storm warning in effect until 5 p.m. today

GRAND CANYON, Ariz. - A major snowstorm has immobilized northern Arizona. A winter storm warning remains in effect until 5 p.m. today. According to the National Weather Service, between 12 to 18 inches of snow was expected by this morning with up to five more inches due tonight. Light to moderate snow showers will continue today with wind gusts of 30 mph.

Interstate 40 remains closed between Kingman and Holbrook. Motorists are cautioned not to travel. As of 10:30 a.m. this morning, Interstate 17 southbound was opened to traffic. Northbound I-17 remains closed.

Snow levels are expected to fall near 1,500 feet later this morning.
