WILLIAMS - This year's Taste of Williams event will feature food, art, conversation and a chance to win a new car.

You heard it right. A chance to win a brand new car.

The Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce along with Elephant Rocks Golf Course will host the Taste of Williams event to be held 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Elephant Rocks Golf Course, 2200 Country Club Rd.

New to the event this year is a hole-in-one contest. Planet Nissan of Flagstaff plans to give a new Jeep or Subaru to the first person to make a hole-in-one shot.

Elephant Rocks General Manager Brent Redman said hole in one competitions often take place at tournaments held at the course and are usually set up on the 18th hole.

"For convenience at this event, everything will be just going down fairway number one," he said.

Contestants will tee off from halfway down the fairway with the pin 180 yards away.

"We're going to set up chairs out there," Redman said. "We're having someone emcee the event. Cheering them on. The car will be parked up here so everyone can see it. Hopefully we'll have good weather that night."

The competition will be open to ticket holders for $5 per swing.

"We'll hopefully get a lot of people, spectators, people cheering one another on," Redman said. "Hopefully someone makes a hole in one. It's one in a million."

The food and wine tasteing event, in its first year at the golf course, includes close to 10 local restaurants along with artists and entertainers, and showcases the many talents and diversities of the areas Route 66 Communities. Regional wineries offering tastings include Oak Creek Vineyards, Page Springs Cellars and Arizona Stronghold Vineyards as well as Williams own microbrewery, Grand Canyon Brewing Company.

Kerri Lynn will provide music entertainment for the evening.

Tickets for the 21 and older event are on sale in advance for $25, or $30 at the door. Sponsors include Elephant Rocks Golf Course, Bearizona and Grand Canyon Railway.
