Get ready for junior rodeo excitement
Event comes to rodeo grounds this Saturday and Sunday
WILLIAMS - Hold onto your hats, rodeo fans, the Arizona Junior Rodeo Association's (AJRA) Rodeo is coming to the Bob Dean Rodeo Grounds Saturday and Sunday! This will be the seventh event of the season held at the rodeo grounds. Performances will be held daily from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
The cost of the family rodeo is $5 for adults and $2 for children. All participants in the weekend's events will be between the ages of 5 and 18.
According to Bob Dean, Chairman for the event, those in attendance will be able to watch young cowboys and cowgirls from all over the state as well as from New Mexico.
"These are future professionals in the making," he said.
Along with breakaway roping, calf roping, chute dogging, ribbon roping, team roping, barrel racing and pole bending, the rodeo will also feature bull riding, bare back bronc riding and calf riding. The Williams Kiwanis Club will operate the cook shack as a fundraiser for their scholarship programs and the Williams' Habitat for Humanity will also be selling Kettle Corn and baked goods with proceeds going to help build a new house in Williams in the spring. The Williams Rodeo Committee will provide the buckles - 43 in all - in addition to manning the sound system, preparing the arena and staffing the VIP tent.
Pepsi and Northland Beverage are the event's major sponsors. No alcohol will be sold at the family rodeo.
Established in 1967, the AJRA's mission is to promote Christian principles and to encourage members to exhibit characteristics consistent with these ideals. To find out more, visit arizonajuniorrodeo.com.
