Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson, 57, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at her home in Williams.

Marilyn Ruth Kuperus was born on July 15, 1951, to Paul and Lorraine (Glauvitz) Kuperus at the hospital in Belgrade, Minn. She was baptized on July 16, 1951, and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in 1965 by Rev. Magnus Peterson.

She attended school in Belgrade, graduating in 1969. She attended Willmar Vo-Tech graduating in 1970 with a business secretary certification.

On Dec. 18, 1971, she was united in marriage to David "Chip" Manson. She loved being an airman's spouse and being able to transfer from base to base over the course of his 20-year career. She was especially proud of being a Thunderbird wife. She spent time as a stay-at-home mother and daycare provider, but also worked outside the home in several banks and in retail businesses. Currently, she was employed at Grand Canyon Railway. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and the New London American Legion Auxiliary.

Family and friendship were very important to Marilyn. She was unfailingly loyal and generous. A special place in her heart was kept for her grandchildren. You could see her glow around them and they adored her. She enjoyed reading and was rarely found without a book. Her time on numerous bowling leagues created many lasting friendships, great memories, and even a few good scores. She had a soft spot for animals and owned many pets, the latest being two cats, Toby and Tessa.

Surviving are her husband, David; children, TSGT James Manson stationed at Nellis AF Base, Las Vegas and Sheri (Brett) Chesness of Blaine, Minn.; two grandchildren, Tristian and Isabelle Chesness; mother, Lorraine Kuperus, of Belgrade, Minn.; sister, June (Mark) Templer of Cloquet, Minn.; brothers William (Mary) Kuperus of New London, Minn., Daniel of Portland, Ore., Robert (Lisa) of Belgrade, Minn., Dale of Paynesville, Minn.; Donald of Muskogee, Okla., Russell (Betty) of New London, Minn. and Jeffrey (Becky) of Brooten, Minn.; her parents-in-law, Earl (Violet) Manson of New London, Minn.; and, numerous nieces and nephews and their families, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Her father, three infant brothers, two nieces and two nephews preceded her in death.

The memorial service will be held on Wed., May 20, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in New London, Minn. A one-hour visitation will be held at the church before the service.
