LETTER: Grateful for community
To the editor:
This is just a letter to say I am so glad that I was able to share my mom with all of you at the Grand Canyon. It seems as if she had touched the lives of people the world over! But, as I said, this is a very heartfelt thank you letter.
I would like to thank special agents Chris Smith and Clyde Yee (now I truly understand why they are called SPECIAL agents), Patty and Bill Brookins, Jon Streit, park rangers Mary and Angela (I don't know their last names), who were all very sweet to me. Also thank you for the surprise of an anonymous Samaritan that paid my family's food tab at the Maswik Cafeteria.
Another thanks goes to Marie Cook at Chase Bank. If I left anyone out, I am truly sorry, but I want to say thanks to the Grand Canyon community as a whole for being kind and sympathetic beyond words. But I really want to give a big thank you to my new brother and sister, Michelle and Skip Scarbrough.
So, to end this letter, I will miss my mom and Maverick, but the really special thing to come out of this is that now I have a huge amount of new friends. So, as you can clearly see, my mother is still around because she got all of us together. I just want to say I love you, Mom, and thank you for being my mother.
