Kaibab Learning Center hosting fundraiser
Kaibab Learning Center hosts its annual fundraiser this Saturday from 6:30-11 p.m. at the National Geographic Visitors Center. Admission is a donation of $15 per person, up to $40 per family.
The event includes dinner, drinks, raffle prizes, live music by the Spokes and screening of the IMAX movie "Horses: The Story of Equus."
This is the sixth year for the event, with proceeds going to supplement what the non-profit day care raises in fees. The center has six teachers and an enrollment of about 50 - well above what's needed to cover operational expenses.
According to co-directors Alejandra Flores and Janice Rodriguez, the extra funding will help support a growing program that includes introduction of a new curriculum and full-day summer enrichment camps. Board member Clarinda Vail said the money will also help the center purchase rubber mulch needed in the playground.
Flores said enrollment is open for all ages and for terms ranging from drop-in to weekly.
The center needs teachers, especially to work in the infant room and as class aides. The new curriculum, Kidsparkz, provides guidance. Call the center at (928) 638-6333 for more information.
