Ella Marie Castro

Ella Marie Castro, 86, of Williams, Ariz. went to the Lord with our blessings on November 29, 2009, after a long battle with illnesses. Ella Marie Castro was born on January 2, 1923 to William F. and Mary Sauer in Herrington, Kansas. She spent her childhood in Kansas, before marrying, at the age of 15, to Virgil L. Davis Jr. They had six children in Kansas, before moving to Seligman, Ariz. where her husband worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. Another child was born in Seligman and one child died. The family eventually moved to the rock quarries in Ash Fork, Ariz., and later moved to town, where another child was born.

Ella Marie Castro divorced in 1958 and moved to Williams, Ariz. with four children. Ella was a waitress for more than 50 years. On July 31, 1962, Ella Marie married Pete Q. Castro. Ella and Pete Castro had four children together.

Ella was an avid sports mom. Her family was her pride and joy. She was a very special lady and was loved very much by her family. She was a member of the Williams Auxiliary of the American Legion Hut.

Ella is survived by her loving husband Pete Castro, one sister Lorene Owens of Elko, Nevada, and eight children: Kenny (Sally) Davis, Carolyn (Jerald) Robertson, Shirley Fulton, Virgil Davis (deceased), Lorraine Stegmier, Russel (Cathy) Davis, David (Patricia) Davis, Marie (George) Otero, and Annette (Sonny) Gaines.

Ella Marie also has 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Five children and two brothers preceded her in death.

Services will be held Dec. 6, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, located at 629 W. Grant Avenue in Williams, Ariz., beginning at 1 p.m. Graveside services will follow with Pastor Mike Mitchell officiating. A reception will follow at the American Legion Hut at 425 W. Grant Avenue in Williams, Ariz.
