Technological education district board vacancy

ASH FORK - Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has announced a vacancy on the Mountain Institute Joint Technological Education District Governing Board. The opening was created due to the resignation of Governing Board Member Jon Jones, who represents the Ash Fork District. Jones will be relocating out of the district.

Carter praised the efforts of Jones in representing the voters and students of Ash Fork.

"He was an excellent governing board member and he will certainly be missed. We wish Mr. Jones the very best in the future," said Carter.

To be eligible to apply for this seat, a person must be a registered voter (18 years of age and a United States citizen), and have continuously resided in the Ash Fork Joint Unified School District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment. Deadline for receipt of letters of interest is 5 p.m. May 15. Finalists will be interviewed on May 21. Carter will speak individually with the district administration, each current governing board member, and any member of the public that would like to express their opinion about this appointment. The appointment will be made by May 22 and the term will expire on Dec. 31, 2010.
