CCC continues to trim budget
Williams Campus will close for the summer
Coconino Community College is reducing or eliminating 12 positions, closing the Williams Campus for the summer and retiring 13 degree and certificate programs as it reorganizes under a trimmed-down Fiscal Year 2009 budget and braces itself for additional state budget cuts in FY 2010. The Williams Campus will close May 17 and will reopen Aug. 17. The other campuses will go to a four-day workweek in the summer, closing Friday through Sunday.
"We are in Tier II - the critical phase," said CCC President Leah L. Bornstein. "Tier II continues to hold viable academic programs harmless and requires us to focus on support services. CCC has many support services and therefore, we could be in Tier II for a very long time. Based on the magnitude of the reductions and the length of time that is anticipated within this situation, CCC needs to look to permanent changes in all of its business practices and significant organizational transformation."
In addition, no salary increases or promotions are being recommended for FY 2010.
