Grand Canyon Rotary Club hosted their annual Chili Cookoff on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Tusayan Fire Station. Carole Bass won the grand prize for her salsa, which was also named best in that category. Other category winners were: Best Traditional Chili - Leeta Chersate, Best Alternative Chili - Angie Kissner, Best Cornbread - Penny Geiger and Peoples' Choice - traditional chili by Sam Bass. Community grants were awarded to the Salvation Army to send kids to camp, to the Community Library for the Summer Reading Program, to Grand Canyon Music Festival for the School of Rock and to Grand Canyon School for environmental education.
