Editorial: There's a special event in town daily during summer
Even though it snowed last week, the summer frenzy is already under way in Williams. Inside the June 11 edition of the News, you will find our "Summer fun in Williams" special publication. This special pub highlights and promotes special events that are coming to Williams through the summer. The "Summer fun" guide will be available throughout the summer at various downtown businesses and at all major events. We are creating this guide now and advertising space is limited. Call Connie at (928) 635-4426 to reserve your space.
Rendezvous Days officially kicked off the beginning of summer last weekend. The next major event begins June 13 when motorcycle enthusiasts return for Rumble on 66. We welcome the bikers as they come to our community for a weekend of riding, relaxing and enjoying special entertainment.
Other events coming soon include the High Country War Birds Air Display on June 21, Renaissance in the Pines June 21-22 at Fort Tuthill Park in Flagstaff, Small Town Fourth of July, 14th Annual Great Escape Rally July 11-13, AARL Arizona State Convention and Hamfest July 18-20, Cowpunchers Reunion Rodeo July 25-27, and the 12th Annual Cool Country Cruise-In and Route 66 Festival Aug. 15-16. Summer comes to an unofficial end with the Labor Day PRCA Rodeo on Labor Day Weekend.
During the summer on any given day, special events are offered in downtown Williams. The Williams Fifth Regimental Cavalry Band can be found playing Civil War-era music throughout downtown Williams nearly every evening. A gunfight erupts daily at 7 p.m. when the Cataract Creek Gang stages a show at various downtown locations. Watch for the Gang's signs downtown since the location changes nightly.
We welcome all these events along with the additional visitors they bring to Williams. There's virtually something for everyone to enjoy. It's going to be a busy and eventful summer. We'll see you around.
Business news
Many of our local merchants took advantage of the winter months to remodel, change menus or add exciting new merchandise to their shelves. We want to share what your business has to offer in a future edition of the News. If your business has something new to offer, give us a call and ask for Lynda or Patrick. Locals and visitors want to know what your business has to offer.
