A defective flue is blamed for starting a small fire at the Montgomery Apartments on Tuesday. The fire broke out in the apartment occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery. Fortunately Mr. Montgomery was there and was able to bring it under control until the fire department arrived. Only slight damage resulted, due to Mr. Montgomery's prompt action.

Jan. 30, 1958
The El Paso Natural Gas Company plans to construct seven additional homes at the Williams Compressor Station, and install added engines at the plant, boosting its output to 35,000-horse power. This is a part of an overall expansion the company has planned for its northern Arizona San Juan pipeline.

The Bill Williams Ski Area will be in operation this weekend. Depth of snow at midway point is 42 inches with a trace of new snow. Weather conditions at the time of this report is clear and cold. Vehicles used on mountain roads should be equipped with snow tires or have chains available.
