Farrell appointed to Ash Fork School Board
Term expires December 2009
Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has announced the appointment of Robert Farrell to fill a vacancy on the Ash Fork Joint Unified School District Board. This appointment is due to the resignation of Brad Holvey, who will be relocating out of the district.
"We appreciate the dedicated service that Mr. Holvey provided to the school district," Carter said.
Farrell earned a bachelor's degree from the University of New Haven in Connecticut in business administration and a master's degree in educational counseling from the University of Arizona. He is a highly qualified secondary vocational teacher and school counselor in Arizona.
Farrell has lived in the Ash Fork area for over two years. He is married to a health care provider and they have four grown children. He is a veteran educator of 30 years who currently works as a counselor in the Williams Unified School District. His teaching experiences include work in elementary, middle school, high school and colleges in Arizona and New Mexico.
Carter interviewed two well-qualified applicants for the position. He was extremely impressed with the quality of both candidates. He spoke individually with seated governing board members and district officials prior to making the selection.
"Mr. Farrell has a solid understanding of a broad array of educational issues facing public schools today. He understands how difficult it is to balance the needs of students, parents, staff and the taxpayer."
Farrell's term began Dec. 22 and will expire Dec. 31, 2009.
