Book fair will begin Feb. 25

Grand Canyon School Library and the PTA host the annual Scholastic Book Fair from Monday, Feb. 25-Thursday, March 6.

The fair will be open during both lunch times, after school from 4-5 p.m. and on a special family night on Thursday, Feb. 28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in conjunction with the PTA and the Hands Across the Border Fiesta.

Mexican Fiesta fundraiser set

The Hands Across The Border program will host a Mexican Fiesta fundraiser on Thursday, Feb. 28, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the school.

The group is raising funds for exchange visits between the Canyon and its sister school in Santa Ana, Mexico. A visit is planned to Mexico in March while Santa Ana students and staff will visit in April.

This is the second year for exchanges between the schools.

Student show to open at Kolb

In celebration of National Youth Art Month, Arts for our Parks, the annual juried exhibit of local student work, runs at Kolb Studio next month.

The opening reception is Wednesday, March 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Kolb studio. The show, titled "The Face of Our World," runs through March 30.

Refreshments will be prepared and served by the school's Culinary Arts class.

Group supports local meditators

An informal gathering of community and Rec Center members meets Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Rec Center to establish or maintain a meditation practice.

All practices are welcome. It is free and open to individuals 17 and older.
