Forest Service campgrounds close for season
As fall progresses, Kaibab National Forest campgrounds and visitor centers are shifting to winter hours and uses.
Tusayan Ranger District - 638-2443.
Ten-X Campground is closed to all use for the winter.
North Kaibab Ranger District - 928-643-7395
Jacob Lake Campground is closed for reconstruction. Both the Jacob Lake picnic area and group area are closed to all use.
DeMotte Campground is open for both day and overnight use but will shut down services by mid-October.
The Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center at the intersection of highways 89 and 67, is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through October, weather permitting. In November, the visitor center will be open Thursdays-Sundays only. Contact the Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center at 928-643-7298.
Kaibab Camper Village will close Oct. 15. Contact Camper Village at 928-643-7804.
Jacob Lake Inn remains open year-round. To contact the inn, call 928-643-7232.
The North Rim Country Store will remain open through Nov. 10, weather permitting. The store will close Nov. 11. To contact the North Rim Country Store, call 928-638-2383.
Kaibab Lodge plans to close many of its cabins by early November but will provide some lodging and food services through the winter. For information, call 638-2389.
Arizona Department of Transportation officials will try to keep Highway 67 open for as long as possible. However, Highway 67 could be closed for the winter at any time due to heavy snowfall. Services on the park's North Rim will close by Oct. 16. Limited campsites and services will be available until Highway 67 closes for the winter.

All developed campgrounds are closed for overnight use. However, the Williams Ranger District campgrounds are open for day-use only from dawn until dusk.
At White Horse Lake and Cataract Lake campgrounds, visitors can park near the campground gates and walk in for daytime use. At Dogtown Lake Campground, visitors can use the picnic area during the day. At Kaibab Lake Campground, visitors can use the picnic area and fish during daytime hours.
