Deadline for tax credit nearing
Taxpayers have about a month and a half left to take advantage of the Arizona School Tax Credit, which allows revenues to stay in the local school district.
Under the credit, donations or fees paid for some extra-curricular activities can be deducted from taxes owed on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to $200 for individuals or $400 for jointly filing married couples.
The money must be paid before Dec. 31, the end of the tax year.
You do not have to be a parent to participate.
Programs are eligible if they are sponsored by the school and collect a fee for participation. Grand Canyon has nearly 20 programs, including Battle of the Books, Camp Colton, athletics, Hands Across the Border and Odyssey of the Mind.
For the complete list and other information, contact Barb Shields at the District Office, 638-2461, ext. 400.
