Bible school begins Monday

Vacation Bible school begins Monday at Community United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Second and Sherman. This year's theme is "Avalanche Ranch - a wild ride through God's word."

Children of all ages are invited to attend. VBS will meet nightly from 5:30-8 p.m. through Aug. 3.

Elementary-Middle School registration begins Monday

The Williams Elementary-Middle School will begin registration for the coming school year on Monday. Due to tax donation requirements, all students, including returning students are required to register for classes. A $5 activity fee will be charged for registration.

First and second grade students can register Monday. Third and fourth grade students may register Tuesday. Fifth and sixth grade students can register on Aug. 1. Seventh and eighth grade students may register Aug. 2. A make up registration day will be held Aug. 3. All registrations will take place at the Williams-Elementary Middle School from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A "Meet the Teacher" night is planned for Aug. 15 from 6-7 p.m.

Chamber

meeting, mixer on Friday

The Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce Board will meet at 11 a.m. on Friday at Denny's Restaurant.

An Ambassadors' mixer will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday at Mountain Side Inn, 642 E. Route 66. Mountain Side's general manager Teresa Garcia will host the mixer. The 50/50 draw benefits the American Youth Soccer Organization.

High school begins

registration

The Williams High School will begin registering students for the 2007-2008 school year on July 30.

Seniors can register 9:30-11:30 a.m. Monday; juniors can register 1-3:30 p.m. Monday; sophomores can register 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday; freshmen can register 1-3 p.m. Tuesday; and new students can register 9-11:30 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. Aug. 1.

Current office hours at WHS are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. WHS is located at 440 S. Seventh St. For more information call (928) 635-4474.

Swim team sells raffle tickets

Officials with the WACY Dolphins swim team are holding a raffle in order to raise funds for the team. Prizes include a 30 GB I-Pod Video, a $50 certificate to Wal-Mart and a $25 gift certificate to the Flagstaff Mall.

Raffle tickets are currently for sale by members of the swim team and at the Williams Aquatic Center, with the drawing planned for early August. Proceeds from the auction will be used for the purchase for medals, swimsuits and entry fees to future swim meets.

Diabetes group meets Aug. 2

The Williams Diabetes Support Group will meet at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 2 at the Williams Senior Center, 850 W. Grant Ave.

Dr. Anthony Rosales will speak on how to take control of diabetes with proper foot care. The meeting is free and open to anyone wanting to learn more about diabetes.

GED/ESL

classes offered at CCC

GED and English as a Second Language classes are offered at Coconino Community College, Williams campus, 636 S. Seventh St.

GED/ESL classes are held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. ESL classes are held 6-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
