Clean up Williams Saturday
The annual community spring cleanup day is Saturday. Cleanup volunteers are asked to report to the Williams-Forest Service Visitor Center parking lot, 200 W. Railroad Ave., at 9 a.m. Williams Clean & Beautiful volunteers will be on hand to assign areas needing attention. Free coffee and donuts will be available to all. Pizza Factory is offering coupons for all volunteers. Prizes will be hidden throughout town, so the more trash you collect the higher the likelihood you will be rewarded for your efforts. The day ends at noon with a barbecue lunch featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and sodas. Arizona Public Service will cruise through the town offering soda and water to volunteers. APS will also supply the garbage bags.
City of Williams residential water customers received a voucher in recent water billings. By turning in the voucher at the transfer station, customers will be allowed to dump one large appliance or one load of debris at no charge. If you have a voucher, please use it within the week. If you don't have anything to take to the transfer station, drive around Williams and you will likely find a friend or acquaintance that can use your help and your voucher.
For a nominal fee, the city will be offering to pick up large appliances and large items. Contact the city of Williams at 635-4451 and tell them what you have to determine what the fee is. Those that cannot afford to pay a fee for large items can contact Carol Glassburn at 635-4503 to see if the Williams Clean & Beautiful can assist with the fee.
We encourage all to participate in cleanup day in some way. And everyone doesn't necessarily have to go to cleanup day headquarters at the visitor center to participate. Clean up your own yard. Take down those Christmas lights. Help a neighbor. It doesn't take much time or effort to make our community a cleaner, more inviting place to visit.
