Roberta Fain, daughter of northern Arizona pioneering parents Bob and Bess Thurston, passed away in her home on Sept. 26, 2006.
She was born in Kansas City, Mo. in 1917 and lived nearly all of her life in Williams.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Bill Thurston, and husband J. C. Fain.
She is survived by her brother, Chris Thurston; daughters, Pamela Fain and Rise Fain; her sons, Robert Fain, Ted Fain, and Louis Fain; grandchildren, Gina (Pat) Carpenter, Lisa (Shawn) Cureton, Angele Pouquette, Tammie (Bud) Parenteau, Eric (Traci) Olson, Christopher Fain, and Matthew Fain; her great-grandchildren Kirk Carpenter, Taylor Carpenter, Colt Cureton, Ty Cureton, Noah Cureton, Trevor Parenteau, Paige Parenteau, Alex Olson, Kelsey Olson, Lakyn Olson, Kennedy Olson, and Zach Olson; nieces and nephews, John Thurston, Bess Foster, Clarinda Vail, Ginny Blum, Bobbi Keller, Sandi Herron, Janice Benatz, Larry Benatz, Dinah Gemmill, and Sam Turner and many great nieces and nephews.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Northern Arizona Hospice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Norvel Owens Mortuary.
Troy Smith Sr.
Troy Garlin Smith Sr., 95, of Needles, Calif., died Sept. 17, 2006. He was a summer resident of Williams for approximately 40 years.
Troy was one of nine children born to Albert and Rhoda Ann Smith. He was born at Calico Rock, Ark., on Aug. 8, 1911.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy.
He is survived by five children, Austin (Kelley) John Smith of Ft. Mohave, Troy (Debbie) Garlin Smith Jr. of Williams, Marvin (Margaret) E. Smith of Laughlin, Nev., Patsy (Glendean) Joann Smart of Ft. Worth, Texas and Carolyn Cox of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006 at Dimond & Sons Needles Mortuary. Graveside services were held Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 at Needles Riverview Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to Dimond & Sons Needles Mortuary.
Hattie Lovina Inman
Hattie Lovina Inman, 78, of Williams, passed away Oct. 1, 2006.
Hattie was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Inman; sons Billy and Stevie; and grandchildren Davey and Melinda.
She is survived by her children Peggy Barras of Williams, Penny Orsini of Florida, Gary Inman of Prescott, Linda Morris of Payson, Russell Inman of Flagstaff, Brenda Adams of Williams and Marjorie Allen of Texas; and 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her family.
A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006 at the Community United Methodist Church, Second Street and Sherman Avenue. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, also at the church. A celebration of Hattie's life will follow at the church.
