Christmas arrives in Williams!
Hundreds gather around the community Christmas tree located at Route 66 and South Second Street Nov. 24 for the tree lighting ceremony. The Dickens Carolers added a special touch to the evening strolling the streets and leading the crowd in several favorite Christmas carols. The carolers were brought to Williams courtesy of Unisource Energy Services, John Root Horseshoeing, Sultana Steakhouse and Saloon, Twisters 50's Soda Fountain and Farm Bureau Insurance.
Holiday cheer continues Saturday as Santa makes an appearance at Santa Land at the Williams Recreation Center from noon-4:30 p.m. The official lighting of the trees at Monument Park, located on the west end of Williams, is scheduled for 6 p.m. prior to the start of the Arizona Public Service Parade of Lights. Servicemen and women home for the holidays are needed to ride on the Grand Marshal's float in the Parade of Lights that begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Local servicemen and women, along with Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Kyle Dent, will serve as this year's Grand Marshals. Honorary Grand Marshals will be Grand Canyon Railway owners Max and Thelma Biegert. The theme of this year's holiday celebration is "Home for the Holidays." For more information, contact the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce at (928) 635-0273.
