Josephine Cardenas

Josephine Cardenas, 84, of Flagstaff, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, surrounded by her loving family. 

Josephine was born Feb. 28, 1922 in Flagstaff where she lived until she married Mike Cardenas from Williams in 1944. They lived in Flagstaff and in Phoenix until they moved to Williams in 1949 where the raised their only daughter, Yolanda. During this time they co-owned the West End Grocery Store. 

In 1965 they moved back to Flagstaff where Josephine worked at Babbitt's Department store for five years. In later years she enjoyed working for the Early Voting Board at election time. Josephine's life was dedicated to her family. She enjoyed being a homemaker, crocheting, and most of all spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her only daughter, Yolanda (Bud) Charlebois; granddaughter Audra (Damian) Morales; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Matthew Morales; sisters Margaret Lopez and Delores Fernandez; and many nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years Mike Cardenas; parents Jose and Marta Osle; and brother Henry Olse. 

Rosary will be Friday, Aug. 25, 2006 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006 at noon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. 

Arrangements are by Norvel Owens Mortuary.

Verna E. Conley

Verna E. Conley 61, of Williams, passed away Friday evening, Aug. 18, 2006. She was employed  by Grand Canyon Railway. 

She is survived by her husband, Bill Conley; daughter, Kathy (Wally) Stock; and son, Rusty Cravens.

As a request by the family a casual celebration of Verna's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006 at the Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66 in Flagstaff.

Arrangements are under the direction of Norvel Owens Mortuary.

Mayme Peters

Mayme Peters, 84, of Avondale, passed away Aug. 14, 2006 in Goodyear. She was born April 3, 1922 in Oklahoma.

Mrs. Peters is survived by her daughter, Judy Morain; sister, Juanita Martin; three grandchildren, Amy, Lori and Timothy; and six great-grandchildren, Daniel, Kaylie, Bradley, Shayne, Devin and Jeremy.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jackie and great-grandson, Zacchary. Private services will be held at a later date. Thompson's Valley West Funeral Chapelin is entrusted with the arrangements.
