Between April 15-22, U.S. Park Rangers at Grand Canyon National Park responded to the following:
Friday, April 15
• Rangers treated a three-year-old boy with a head laceration.
• A visiting family of an Alzheimer’s patient was contacted.
• A driver was warned for a stop sign violation.
• A camper was warned for being out of bounds.
• A 23-year-old woman with an ankle injury was flown from South Kaibab Trail.
• Phantom Ranch rangers treated a sick hiker.
Saturday, April 16
• Rangers warned a driver for unsafe operation and issued a citation for illegal parking.
• A man caught collecting wood was cited for a resource violation.
• A camper was warned for being out of bounds.
• Rangers gave two warnings for disorderly conduct.
• Gail Trujillo was arrested for assault.
• A driver was warned for obstructing traffic at Desert View.
• A 27-year-old woman with an infected wound was flown from Phantom Ranch.
• Inner Canyon rangers treated a 40-year-old woman for hyponatremia.
• Rangers assisted a hiker on the Bright Angel Trail.
• Inner Canyon rangers gave a written warning for being off itinerary and verbal warnings for being off itinerary and not having a backcountry permit.
Sunday, April 17
• Rangers did a blood-pressure check on a 56-year-old man and treated a 27-year-old man for lacerations to his forearm.
• Drivers were warned for speeding and for a stop sign violation. Also, a driver was cited for speeding.
• Rangers gave two verbal warnings for out-of-bounds camping and two for having campfires in undesignated areas.
• Two written warnings were issued to hikers off itinerary at Monument Creek.
• A hiker was cliffed out behind Yavapai Observation.
• A man was cited for leaving a trail and creating a hazardous condition.
Monday, April 18
• Rangers treated a 49-year-old man for dehydration and a 14-year-old boy with respiratory dysfunction.
• A log was reported on the railroad tracks.
• Three drivers were warned and one was cited for speeding.
• Rangers investigated a report of stolen government property.
• Lucy Tsinnijinnie was arrested on a warrant out of Page, Ariz.
• A 48-year-old woman with progressive arm paralysis was flown from Indian Garden.
• A camper was warned for being off itinerary at Clear Creek Trail.
• Grand Canyon rangers assisted Glen Canyon National Recreation Area with a search.
Tuesday, April 19
• Two separated parties were reunited.
• Rangers warned one driver for speeding, two for stop sign violations, two for erratic driving behavior and two for illegal parking. Also, one driver was cited for speeding.
• A man was cited for operating a business without a permit.
Wednesday, April 20
• Rangers treated a 33-year-old man who lost consciousness.
• A bus vs auto accident was reported.
• Rangers warned two drivers for speeding, one for passing on a hill, one for going the wrong way in a one-way zone and one for a vehicle equipment violation,
• A driver was cited for unsafe backing.
• A wallet was reported stolen.
• A man was cited for panhandling.
• Rangers gave two verbal warnings for disorderly conduct and one for an audio disturbance.
• A 48-year-old man with an ankle injury was flown from Tilt Mesa.
• Rangers assisted a hiker with food and fleece on the Bright Angel Trail.
Thursday, April 21
• Rangers treated a 46-year-old man with a knee injury, a one-year-old boy with an allergic reaction, a juvenile with a squirrel bite and a two-year-old girl with a bump on the head.
• A separated party was reunited and two visitors were helped with disabled vehicles.
• The Tusayan Fire Department was dispatched to the Grand Canyon Airport for a man with back pain.
• Rangers warned a driver for a stop sign violation.
Friday, April 22
• Rangers treated a visitor with a finger laceration and a seven-year-old girl with an irritated eye.
• A visitor was assisted with a vehicle lockout.
• The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched for a subject who refused to leave the bar at the Grand Hotel in Tusayan.
• Rangers warned two drivers for speeding and one for a stop sign violation.
• A commercial driver was cited for not keeping a current log book.
• Rangers helped a visitor with a flat tire near Tuweep.
• Phantom Ranch rangers cited Kevin Ehlers and Mario Lavin for possession of marijuana.
• A hiker was assisted at Phantom Ranch.
