Shipley sticks to promise as Vikings win<br>
Vikings player No. 21, Chance Grantham, far left, has been responsible for racking up several touch-downs so far this season. He had four in the Vikings latest 50-6 victory against Valley Lutheran.
They allowed one TD by Valley, but after that it was a relentless attack by our boys in black and orange, scoring another 22 to bring it to 28-6 at the end of the first quarter.
The second was almost the same with three TDs for a 44-6 on the board by halftime.
After scoring yet another first-possession TD in the third, the game was stopped on the mercy rule with a whopping 50-6 victory for the Vikings.
Bringing in points for the team were Grantham with four TDs, Lucas Zabala with two and a first quarter TD by Garrett Hendel.
Head Coach Rick Shipley said quarterback Wesley Scruggs made a good showing with six TD passes and over 400 yards thrown, but says the team isn’t out of the water just yet.
“We still have areas we need to improve on to be a good football team,” Shipley commented.
Those areas include recognizing defense, keeping from giving up big plays, and improving the team’s kicking game.
Be sure to catch a Vikings double-header this Thursday as the JV team plays Holbrook here in Williams at 4:30 and varsity battles Rough Rock at 7 p.m.
