Friday evening filled with murder and mystery<br>

Locals turned actors include (from left) Williams Mayor Ken Edes (Det. Alan Pinkerton), Diana Croteau Belle Starr), Mike DuCharme (Buckey O’Neill), Donna Cochran (Annie Oakley), John Moore (Wyatt Earp) and Gloria Rodriguez Josephine Marcos Earp. Everyone who attends is encouraged to dress in late 1800s western costumes. Awards will be presented to the best dressed individuals. Tickets for the banquet are still available and can be obtained at the Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce.

At this year’s chamber banquet, “Clue” will be converted into a western murder mystery. The chamber sold tables to the local businesses and they will all participate in the game.

The premise of the game is just like the game “Clue” — a person is killed, and participants must figure out who did it, with what and in what business. The twist is that instead of rooms the game will be made up of local businesses in Williams.

The changes do not stop there. The story is that seven people are coming to Williams to invest in the Grand Canyon Railway. The story takes place in the Wild West era of America. While these seven investors are in Williams, one of them gets killed. The job of everyone at the banquet is to figure out which of the remaining six killed the seventh.

The weapons in the game are also different. The killer in this game could have used six weapons — a knife, gun, arrow, horseshoe, rope, or branding iron.

Several local residents will play the seven characters in the western murder mystery. Bill Williams will be played by Bill “Catfish” Pettit, Captain William Owen “Buckey” O’Neill is to be played by Mike DuCharme, Diana Croteau will play bandit queen Belle Starr, and Donna Cochran will play “Sure Shot” Annie Oakley. Wild West lawman Wyatt Earp will be played by John Moore and Gloria Rodriguez will play Josephine Marcos Earp, with Detective Alan Pinkerton being played by Williams Mayor Ken Edes.

Those who attend the banquet are encouraged to dress in late 1800s western costumes. Awards will be presented to the best dressed couple in evening western wear, best dressed couple in ranch wear, best dressed woman in evening western wear, best dressed woman in ranch wear, best dressed man in evening western wear and best dressed man in ranch wear.
