Middle-school soccer<br>team takes 2 more wins
The Grand Canyon Middle School soccer team swept a pair of home games Saturday with victories of 4-1 over Williams and 3-0 over Flagstaff Northland Prep.
Refugio Jaime kicks the ball with Northland Prep’s goalkeeper closing in. Ali Towers, in the background, ended up kicking the rebound into the net for a goal and 2-0 lead.
In the win over the Falcons, Grand Canyon got goals from Casey Gibson, Maria Caballero, Michael Eck and Ali Towers. Cruz Caballero had an assist on the Towers goal.
The team then faced Northland Prep in the final match of the day. Refugio Jaime scored a goal with a shot from about 25 yards out.
Towers then found the net with an assist from Cruz Caballero, who hustled and fought for the ball in the zone. Towers ended up with a rebound and scored easily. The third goal was scored by Cruz Caballero.
Grand Canyon goes to 4-0-1 with the two wins.
