NPS wins rematch<br>of championship game
The National Park Service coed softball team got off to a big start last week by defeating Grand Canyon School in a rematch of last year’s league championship game.
NPS downed the defending champion school team, 26-15, in a game filled with big innings.
The season opened on Monday of last week when Red Feather Lodge took a 21-8 victory over the Squire Inn. On Thursday, We Cook Pizza upended Delaware North, 11-7.
All teams except the Grand Hotel have opened the season. The Grand is scheduled to play its first game tonight against National Park Service.
In other games, Squire Inn will play Delaware North this coming Monday. The next evening, Red Feather will play National Park Service. All games begin at 5:45 p.m.
Games were played on Monday and Tuesday of this week after the newspaper’s presstime.
This year’s league features seven teams. The season will run for six weeks and end with a double-elimination tournament in late August.
