The Phantoms began the day with a 9 a.m., match against the Falcons. Grand Canyon scored in the opening minutes on a goal by Scott Beck. Cruz Caballero later scored to give the Phantoms a 2-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Caballero found the net again to give Grand Canyon a 3-0 advantage. Daniel Trenchard then scored to account for the final margin.

Casey Gibson had three saves at goalkeeper in the first half. Yolanda Bitsui had two saves in the second half.

It was the second victory for Grand Canyon over the Falcons this season.

The Phantoms followed with a 1-0 victory over Seligman in the first matchup between those two schools.

The lone goal came on a play set up by Caballero, who made a nice crossover pass to Chloe Phillips, who finished with the goal.

Seligman had just three shots on goal in the game. Gibson had two saves.

Grand Canyon finished the day by falling to Ash Fork, 4-1.

Beck scored the Phantoms' lone goal in the first half on a breakaway.

Ash Fork broke a 1-1 tie in the second half and never looked back to down Grand Canyon for the second time this season.

Along with the I-40 teams mentioned, Northland Prep out of Flagstaff also played games, which ran for 5 1/2 hours on Saturday.

Grand Canyon (3-2) is scheduled to play Saturday at Seligman. Williams and Ash Fork are also expected to play.
