Ricardo Barela Valdivia
Ricardo Barela Valdivia, 56, died at Flagstaff Medical Center April 16, 2001. Ricardo was born February 2,1945 in Flagstaff.
He attended school in Flagstaff and graduated from Flagstaff High School. He attended Northern Arizona University for two years. Mr. Valdivia served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1970, completing three tours of duty in Vietnam. After his service in the Army, he served with the Arizona National Guard for eight years. Mr. Valdivia worked at various local restaurants as a chef. He enjoyed cooking and displayed his affection through his talent with food.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Mr. Valdivia enjoyed his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Christina Estrella of Williams; sons, Ricardo Rocha of Cottonwood, and Rico R. Valdivia of Peoria; daughters, Angela Valdivia and Trinidad M. Valdivia, both of Williams and Carmen A. Gonzales of Phoenix; brothers, Macario Valdivia Jr., Jimmy B. Valdivia, Henry Valdivia Sr. and Roy B. Valdivia and a sister Patricia Morgan, all of Flagstaff; and 18 grandchildren. Visitation was April 19, 2001 at the Neighborhood Church of Flagstaff. Graveside services were April 20, 2001 in the veterans’ section of Citizens Cemetery in Flagstaff.
