Victor D. Romero
Victor D. Romero, 65, died at home in Williams June 8, 2001. He was born May 21, 1936 in El Balle, N. M., to Delfido and Delfina Romero.
Mr. Romero graduated from McCurdy Mission, a private school in Santa Cruz, N.M. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served more than 16 years. After his navy discharge, he returned to Williams where he resided until his death. Mr. Romero worked for Williams Post Office, Kaibab National Forest and later went to work for the National Guard at Bellemont until he retired. After retirement, he worked part time for the local Williams-Grand Canyon News.
Mr. Romero enjoyed playing the harmonica, drinking beer and drawing. He was also a member of the local American Legion Cordova Post No. 13 until his death.
Mr. Romero was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and, most recently, by his nephew, Andy Corral.
Survivors include two sisters, Lydia Tanori of Williams and Rebecca Walker of Phoenix; a brother Ubaldo Romero of Salt Lake City; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are pending due to illness in the family. They will be held at a later date and will be announced.
