Signup for CCC
classes Saturday
Coconino Community College will hold preregistration Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon at the Grand Canyon Community Recreation Center, site coordinator Sally Wahler announced.
CCC schedules are out and can be obtained at the rec center, the village and Tusayan post offices and Amfac’s human resources department.
Among the classes being offered:
• English — Literature of the Southwest.
• Basic English courses.
• Computers.
• Spanish.
• Psychology.
• Drama.
• Math.
• Comparative Religions.
• Gourmet Cooking.

at GC school
Registration for 2000-01 Grand Canyon School students will be held the week of Aug. 7.
On Aug. 7-8, returning students who will be in the first through sixth grades may register.
On Aug. 9, new students in kindergarten through eighth grade can register.
On Aug. 10, new and returning middle-school and high-school students may register.
Each registration session begins at 8:30 a.m. The school advised parents to bring immunization records.
Tusayan VFD
to hold car wash
The Tusayan Volunteer Fire Department will hold a fund-raising car wash and rummage sale Aug. 6 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the firehouse in Tusayan.
Visitors can shop around for items at the rummage sale while their car or truck is being washed. The cost is $5 per car and $7 per truck or van.
All proceeds benefit the Tusayan VFD.
Legion members
off to convention
The National Convention of the American Legion will be Aug. 31-Sept. 7 in Milwaukee, Wis.
Those attending from the Grand Canyon John Ivens Post No. 42 will be Ken Talakte, Richard Patton, Buford Belgard, Al Dunaway and Paul Howe.
Howe is on the distinguished guest committee. Maggie Patton will fly to Milwaukee with the post members and continue on to visit her daughter.
Howe was elected Area C commander at the Legion’s department convention held in June in Tucson.
The next John Ivens post and unit meeting will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Quality Inn in Tusayan.
