The Grand Canyon Parent-Teacher Association will stage Family Fun Night Thursday at the Grand Canyon School library in an effort to contribute to the Grand Canyon Food Basket Drive.

The special event will run Thursday from 6-8 p.m. There will be games, puzzles, door prizes, stories and food, the PTA’s Suzette Streit said.

The entrance fee to Family Fun Night is a non-perishable food item, which will go toward the food drive. Games will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring in their favorites.

Nancy Green will read stories to any interested children. Hot dogs, drinks and snacks will be for sale. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening.

Parents must accompany children to the event.

The food drive is in its fifth year at Grand Canyon. The community effort provides families and individuals with holiday food baskets for Christmas.

For further details on the food drive, see the Holiday Briefs section on page 5B in the Grand Canyon News section.

Christmas bazaar

here on Saturday

The annual Christmas bazaar, sponsored by the Grand Canyon Community Church, will be Saturday at the Grand Hotel in Tusayan.

Unique handmade items will be on display for sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the hotel’s lobby.

“It promises to be bigger than in past years because of the number of tables,” said the Rev. Joe Surin. “We have close to 40 tables.”

Two of the new tables will benefit church activities. The Women of the Grand Canyon Community Church will sell donated items with proceeds benefiting the church. A youth group will man another table with raised money going toward its summer trip to Mexico.

The identity of each child is concealed, but the age and gender will be recorded. A Christmas Angel ornament will be prepared and hung on the tree at McDonald’s.

People signout a tag, purchase a new gift and return it wrapped by Dec. 11. The gifts will be delivered Dec. 18.

For those who would like to make the committee aware of a deserving child, call Paul Kinnison at 638-2790.
