Letter: Williams Little League seeks sponsors for 2016 season
To the editor,
The spring baseball and softball season is upon us again and as president of Williams Little League, I would like to thank the city of Williams, Williams Unified School District, our local volunteers and most especially our sponsors for their support in the 2015 season.
We had a very successful season last year with over 240 t-ball, baseball and softball players making up 20 teams. We had two teams make it to the state tournament, including our 11-12 year-old girls softball team and our 13-14 year-old boys juniors baseball team.
Our coaches and board members are currently seeking sponsors for the 2016 season. Our sponsors are essential for our league to operate. Williams Little League has numerous fees each year, which include insurance premiums, registration fees, tournament fees, equipment costs and uniform costs.
We try to keep our registration costs low to allow every child the opportunity to play baseball or softball without financial constraints. We are so thankful for the donations and sponsorships the community has shown us in the past and we hope it will continue this year.
Board members will be contacting past year's sponsors and seeking out new sponsors for the upcoming season. Anyone interested in sponsoring can email us at williamslittleleague@gmail.com.
The Little League board is also looking for umpires, t-ball coaches, minors baseball coaches and scorekeepers for the upcoming season. Anyone interested in volunteering can email us at williamslittleleague@gmail.com or come to a board meeting.
There is a great need for umpires every year. If you would like to help please let us know. There will be a free umpire training course in Williams prior to the season starting.
We encourage families to register their children as soon as possible so we can get a jump on the season. Please go to williamslittleleague.com to register and receive more information.
