Good Earth employee severely injured in mill accident
WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Lifeline ambulance and the Williams Police Department responded to Good Earth Power AZ (GEPAZ) on Garland Prairie Road Feb. 17 after a report of an injured mill worker.
According to a report from the Williams Police, 19 year-old Marshall Clampe was working with the chipping machine when his arm got caught in the mechanism. Officers believe that Clampe either got a glove or sleeve of his shirt caught in the wood chipping machine while removing wood chips.
"The machine pulled Clampe's right arm through a chain and sprocket breaking his arm in several places," the report stated.
The report said workers and management at the plant disassembled parts of the machine to free Clampe before officers arrived. Clampe was transported by Life Line ambulance to Flagstaff Medical Center where he underwent surgery.
Williams Police contacted the occupational Safety and Health Administration who assigned an investigator to the accident.
Good Earth Power AZ is a lumber mill and material processing facility that has the largest contract for forest restoration through the Four Forest Restoration Initiative (4FRI).
