Williams Softball All-Star teams dominate District

WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Williams Little League softball teams dominated the District 10 All-Star tournaments June 20-30 winning all three age divisions.

The Juniors softball All-Stars beat Verde Valley and Bagdad in their first two games. The team was down by five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and came back to win with a walk-off double by Jazyln Romero. The Williams team advanced to the championship game with Bagdad, but lost the first game which forced a second. Behind the strong pitching of Maddie Olson and offensive attack of Romero and Aaliyah Alvarado, the girls beat Bagdad to take home the championship banner.

The 11-12 Majors softball All-Stars got off to a slow start with a loss to Prescott Valley, but came back to beat Verde Valley, Bagdad and then Prescott Valley twice. Behind the pitching of Ashlynn Kennelly and catching of Sydney Mortenson, the team took home the championship banner in the final game with Prescott Valley. Coach John Romero praised the superb defense of Brittany Cauthen and Shiya Romero.

The 9-10 Majors softball All-Stars went undefeated in District play. They played Prescott Valley and Verde Valley twice to take the championship win 28-11 July 1. Coach Melissa Orozco praised the strong pitching performance of Shay Racher and consistent hitting of Chesnie Carter.

All three teams advance to the state tournaments over the next week to represent Williams.
