Adult softball signups ongoing

Williams City League softball season has begun. Men and women interested in playing softball can sign up now by contacting Johnny Hatcher at (928)600-0495.

Williams Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) begins Sept. 7

The Williams MOPS group will be meeting the first and third Wed. of every month starting Sept. 7. The group will meet at the Northwoods Church located at 100 Pinecrest Trail in Williams. More information can be found by emailing mopsofwilliams@outlook.com.

Gardeners' Market Aug. 20

There will be a gardeners' market 9 a.m. to 11 a.m every Saturday at 403 E. Fulton. There will be locally grown fresh organic produce. Local growers are welcome to participate.

Saturday market Aug. 20

Farm fresh eggs and produce, local wildflower and orange blossom honey, bee pollen, pecan brittle, fresh bread, caramel popcorn, granola and natural soaps will be available Aug. 20, Sept 3, and Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 428 W. Kid's art workshop Aug. 20

Old Trails True Value and Williams alliance for the Arts are hosting a kid's art class for 4-12 year-olds Aug. 20 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 pm. at Old Trails True Value. Williams High School Athletics towel drive

Man vs. Machine bike race Sept. 24

Sept. 24 the Grand Canyon Railway, in partnership with Grand Canyon Racing, will fire up its venerable steam engine #4960 - a 310-ton behemoth built in 1923 - to take on hundreds of bicyclists on a 54-mile course that will climb 2,023 feet starting at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon to Williams, Ariz. Williams Lions Club Mountain Man 5k and 10k runs Sept. 5

The Lions Club of Williams is hosting the Mountain Man 5k and 10k run Sept. 5. The Lions Club raises money for eye exams and glasses in the Williams area, hosts a Toys for Kids at Christmas and supports various local youth programs and activities. Friends of the Aquatic Center Golf Tournament Aug. 27

The Friends of the Williams Aquatic Center are hosting the seventh annual fundraising golf tournament Aug. 27 at Elephant Rocks Golf Course. Proceeds from the event will benefit the swimming pool. Williams Alliance for the Arts fundraiser August 21

Williams Alliance for the Arts is hosting a Painting in the Pines fundraiser Aug. 21. The event takes place at Kicks on Route 66 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Money raised will go toward supporting efforts to enhance and expand arts education in schools. Kicks will provide wine and appetizers. Williams Alliance for the Arts will provide all acrylic art supplies and professional instruction. Bearizona After Dark Aug. 20

Bearizona After Dark is coming Aug. 20. The event is for adults 21 and older. Participants will meet-up in the walk through for hors d'oeuvres and local beer/wine during a 30 minute mixer prior to boarding the Wild Ride Bus at 6 p.m. for a sunset tour. Guests will visit with program animals. Later in the evening the animal art will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

The evening will conclude with a private flashlight tour of the walk through area guided by Bearizona staff.

Monthly Prayer Breakfast

The women of Williams are meeting the last Friday of every month for a prayer breakfast. This month's meeting takes place Aug. 26 at 9 a.m. at Goldie's Rt. 66 Dine, 425 E. Route 66. Historic Yellow House Garden Sale Sept. 3

The Historic Yellow House is hosting a garden sale Sept. 3rd from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The event will have gifts, produce, food, art, music, plants and fun. There will be cinnamon rolls in the morning as a fundraiser for the Williams Volunteer Fire Department. There will be sack lunches in the garden in the afternoon.

The organizers are currently accepting applications for vendors. They will be carefully selecting vendors that will compliment each other and bring something creative and inspiring to the event.

Community Dinners at the Catholic Church

All our invited to attend the Community Dinners held the first Friday of every month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, located at 900 W. Kiwanis Swap meet

Host families needed for exchange students

CETUSA is looking for exchange student host families. All interested families must complete a screening process and then will be able to select a CETUSA student to join their family. An informational meeting takes place June 8 from 6 - 7 p.m. at Cafe 326 in the new lounge.

American Legion Engraved Bricks

The American Legion is selling engraved bricks for the Veterans Memorial in Williams. Each brick will have the serviceman's name, rank, unit and dates of services engraved. 144 bricks have been purchased and engraved, 32 more are needed to complete the project. Applications can be picked up at City Hall or the American Legion or by calling (928) 635-4447.

Wednesday Weight Watchers

Meetings are held on Wednesdays. Weigh in and sign up is from 5:30-6 p.m. with the meeting from 6 -6:30 p.m. Guests are welcome to attend. More information is available by calling (602) 248-0303.

2016 Dog Licenses Available

Dog licenses are now available for pets within city limits. They can be purchased for $5 until March. 31 and $10 after April 1 for spayed/neutered dogs. Cost is $25 for unaltered dogs. Licenses are available at the Police Dept. and City Hall.

Skids available at Williams Transfer Station

Big Brothers Big Sisters in Williams needs adults

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff is once again matching student "littles" with adult "bigs" in Williams. The group meets every Thursday at Williams Elementary-Middle School from 3:45-5:45 p.m. Students are waiting to be matched with an adult. Williams Kiwanis Club seeking food bank donations

The Kiwanis Club is seeking items needed at the food bank. The food bank needs canned vegetables, diapers, laundry detergent, toilet paper, tissues, hand soap, toiletries, peanut butter, canned beans, canned fruit, canned tuna/salmon and cereal.
