Williams Child Abuse Prevention Council

The Williams Child Abuse Prevention Council is gathering information for the second printing of the Williams Area Community Resource Guide. The deadline is May 31. Each service listed will also be given a copy of the guide. The guide is a resource guide of services available in the community for when individuals or families are facing difficult times. Route 66 Car Show

The Historical Route 66 Car Show is coming to Williams May 21. The Mother Road Celebrates its 90 Anniversary May 21st, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds from the Event will Benefit the American Legion Cordova Post 13.

Ladies Handgun safety class April 30

On April 30 at 10 a.m. a ladies handgun safety class will take place at the American Legion Post 425 W. Grant Ave. Lunch will be provided. Range training will take place at 1 p.m. at the Williams Shooting Range off Highway 64 north of the I-40 overpass (turn left at the sign). Participants must sign a Williams Sportsman's Club liability waiver. Bring your own handgun with a minimum of 20 rounds of ammunition. Community yard sale April 30

The Williams Senior Center is having a community yard and craft sale April 30 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tables are available for $10. More information is available from Delores at (928) 220-5625.

Grand Canyon Arts and Crafts Fair

The Kiwanis Club of Williams is hosting the third annual Gateway to the Grand Canyon Arts and Crafts Fair May 13, 14, and 15 at the Rodeo Barn in Williams. More information is available at www.festivalnet.com/Williams_Kiwanis_Club.

Williams Lions Club selling calendars

The Williams Lions Club is preparing to send the 2016-2017 community Birthday Calendar to the printer. Any additions, corrections or deletions to the 49th issue please contact your favorite Lion or calendar chair Denis Kirkley at 635-9366. New customers are welcome to have their family's birthdays and anniversaries listed. Calendars will be available in June for $10 each.

Golf tournament May 21

The Balls for Dogs golf tournament, a two person scramble, will take place May 21 at 9 a.m. The cost is $75 per person which includes green fee and cart. Closest to the pin on all Par3s, lunch and a $13 tax deductible donation to SAVE MTR.The first person to get a hole-in-one on #18 wins $10,000. AYSO Soccer sign ups now through June 30

Registration for Williams AYSO soccer has begun. Cost is $85 and includes a uniform. Practices begin end of May. Play continues through the end of Sept. Parents can register at www.AYSO.org Flagstaff/Williams region. More information is available by emailing Susie Daly at dalysd7875@yahoo.com.

American Legion Engraved Bricks

The American Legion is selling engraved bricks for the Veterans Memorial in Williams. Each brick will have the serviceman's name, rank, unit and dates of services engraved. 144 bricks have been purchased and engraved, 32 more are needed to complete the project. Applications can be picked up at City Hall or the American Legion or by calling (928) 635-4447.

Wednesday Weight Watchers

Meetings are held on Wednesdays. Weigh in and sign up is from 5:30-6 p.m. with the meeting from 6 -6:30 p.m. Guests are welcome to attend. More information is available by calling (602) 248-0303.

VFW Spring Fundraiser

The Matthew J. Broehm VFW Post is hosting a spring fundraiser, with a raffle prize of a Mossberg 12 gauge home security shotgun. Tickets can be purchased from Post members or by calling (928) 225-0930.

Williams Fire Dept. 15th Annual Golf Tournament

Williams Fire Department is accepting applications for the four-man scramble golf tournament to be held June 4 at 8 a.m. Money raised will go towards fire prevention items. Discount cost is $280 per team or $70 per individual before May 27. More information can be found by calling Jeff Pettit at (928) 607-0869.

2016 Dog Licenses Available

Dog licenses are now available for pets within city limits. They can be purchased for $5 until March. 31 and $10 after April 1 for spayed/neutered dogs. Cost is $25 for unaltered dogs. Licenses are available at the Police Dept. and City Hall.

Skids available at Williams Transfer Station

The Williams Transfer Station now has large skids available for use. More information and rates can be found by calling (928) 635-4451.

Rotary Club offers yard cleanup help

Williams Rotary Club is seeking elderly or needy home owners who need assistance with yard work, painting or minor repairs. Anyone needing help or wanting to volunteer can call Kris Williams at (928) 310-6287.

Big Brothers Big Sisters in Williams needs adults

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flagstaff is once again matching student "littles" with adult "bigs" in Williams. The group meets every Thursday at Williams Elementary-Middle School from 3:45-5:45 p.m. Students are waiting to be matched with an adult. Williams Kiwanis Club seeking food bank donations

The Kiwanis Club is seeking items needed at the food bank. The food bank needs canned vegetables, diapers, laundry detergent, toilet paper, tissues, hand soap, toiletries, peanut butter, canned beans, canned fruit, canned tuna/salmon and cereal. Salvation Army Assistance

The Salvation Army provides rent and utility assistance to residents of Williams, Valle, Ash Fork and Seligman on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Walker Hall (202 W. Grant Ave, Williams). Those wanting rental assistance need identification and a copy of their rental agreement and, if applicable, eviction notice. For utility assistance residents need identification and a copy of a bill and/or shut off notice. Appointments are available by calling Pat McShane at (928) 221-3577.
