Business beat: Old Smokey's restaurant returns to Williams
WILLIAMS, Ariz. - After a hiatus lasting several years, Old Smokey's Restaurant is back in Williams.
Owner Dan Barnes said along with the restaurant's popular breakfast menu, Old Smokey's now features an expanded lunch and dinner menu with excellent barbecue options.
"The whole idea was to get Smokey's back in town because everybody loves Smokey's," Barnes said. "And although we kind of lost one historical building, this building has got some history with it so we thought this would be a good stepping off point to opening Smokey's again."
The restaurant is now located on Route 66 where the Grand Canyon Café used to be before that restaurant's recent move.
"Well, when we closed down there as you're well aware we closed because the building kept getting flooded and there were so many problems with the building that it was just insurmountable what we were going through," Barnes said.
Barnes said a location downtown was important before reopening in Williams.
"Location is everything," he said. "This place we knew would work well for us."
Old Smokey's now features barbecue sliders and wraps along with a couple of steak meals.
"We wanted to bring back the Old Smokey's known for the breakfast but we really wanted to push the lunch and the dinner side of it as well," Barnes said.
