WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Easter is right around the corner, and the Easter Bunny is hard at work preparing for this year's community Easter Eggstravaganza.

Last week, the Easter Bunny had a meeting with Recreation Director Rose Newbold and Food Bank Director Guy Mikkelsen to solidify plans for the event.

This year's celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 4 at the Williams Rec Center, 300 W. Railroad Ave.

The annual event features an egg hunt, games, prizes, food, and of course an appearance by the Easter Bunny.

"It is the best Easter Eggstravaganza that there is in northern Arizona," Newbold said.

This is the seventh year Williams has put on the Eggstravaganza. About 500 people usually attend the event.

Organizers have stuffed about 3,000 eggs with candy for the Eggstravaganza. The older kids will hunt for eggs in the skate park area of the Rec Center, which will be covered with balloons.

"There's lots of laughter and noise," Newbold said.

The younger children will participate in the bunny trail, where they can hunt for eggs one at a time and visit with the Easter Bunny at the end.

Besides the egg hunts, the Eggstravaganza will include raffle prizes again this year. Kids can enter to win one of three bikes for different age groups: ages three and younger, ages 4-6 and ages 7-9.

The event will also include a photo booth area for people to take pictures with fun props and backgrounds.

This year's lunch menu is still being decided. After lunch kids can participate in games and activities, such as a bean bag toss, candy bar Plinko, and other carnival style games.

Mikkelsen encouraged kids and their parents to come out and enjoy the Eggstravaganza.

"It is an all free event and it is just full of community spirit," Mikkelsen said.

Organizers are still looking for volunteers for the event. Volunteers are needed for shifts between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help with setup, serving food, running games, handing out prizes and cleanup. More information about the Eggstravaganza or volunteering is available at (928) 635-1496.
