9-10 Baseball All-Stars complete final game
WILLIAMS, Ariz. -Williams 9-10 Baseball All-Stars lost to Wickenburg in a late night game June 23 at Bill Vallely Field in Prescott. The loss ended their run in the District 10 All-Star Tournament.
Behind the pitching of Tyler Jensen, Silas Richmann and Preston Ford, Williams got off to a strong start holding Wickenburg to just one run in the first two innings.
Jensen, Richmann and Ford had seven strikeouts and only five walks with the support of the Williams defense's seven putouts.
Richmann and Jensen managed two base hits in the first inning, with Richmann advancing to score in the first.
After holding Wickenburg scoreless in the second, the Williams offense came back in force with five runs scored.
Following that inning though, Williams stalled out and Wickenburg rallied with their own seven runs to take the lead 8-6 at the bottom of the second.
Williams came back with three more runs in the fourth and fifth innings, but could never regain the lead. Wickenburg took the game 13-9 and advanced in the tournament.
Jensen, Richmann and Jesse Howell paced Williams with three hits and two runs scored each. Jesse Hernandez (two hits, one run scored), Gabe Haase (two hits, one run scored), JP Echeverria (two hits) and Juan Ayala (two hits) aided in the effort.
Follow-up: Wickenburg lost to Prescott Valley 6-5 on June 24 to end their run. Prescott Valley lost to Verde Valley 32-9 on June 25 to end their run. Prescott beat Verde Valley 22-2 on June 26 to win the District Championship, and will head to the State Tournament.
