This year's application workshop takes place Feb. 19 at 5:15 p.m. in Walker Hall, Second Street and Grant Avenue.

This grant workshop will take participants step by step through the grant writing process, which is now completely computerized. The grant applications will be online March 4, and are due May 4.

Maine Consolidated seeks board members

Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Risha VanderWey is seeking applications to fill two governing board vacancies within the Maine Consolidated School District (MCSD).

One four-year and one two-year seat with MCSD remained vacant after the 2014 general election. The two appointed board members will serve two-year terms beginning the date of appointment through Dec. 31, 2016.

VanderWey determined that appointments to fill these vacant seats would best meet the needs of the communities and districts. For each district, an advisory committee, consisting of district residents and a current board member, will be assembled to conduct interviews and advise VanderWey on the appointments.

To be eligible to serve on a school district governing board, a candidate must be a registered voter of the state of Arizona, must be a resident of the school district for at least one year prior to the appointment and neither their candidate or their spouse may be an employee of MCSD.

Those interested in serving on the MCSD governing board can download the application at www.coconino.az.gov/schoolboardapplication. All applications need to be received no later than 5 p.m. on Feb. 19. More information is available from Kim Graves at (928) 679-8070.
