Business Beat: Permanent makeup, Brazilian Blowouts and more at Amanda's Beauty Box
WILLIAMS, Ariz. - More beauty options are available in Williams as a new permanent makeup artist and a new cosmetologist have set up practice at Amanda's Beauty Box.
Lisa Griffiths and her husband have just recently made Williams their home after living in Southern California for many years. Griffiths spent the past year becoming certified as a permanent makeup artist. She worked one-on-one with an instructor learning this cosmetic form of tattooing.
"I can do eyebrows, eyeliner and lips," Griffiths said. "I also do scalp enhancement for men and women who are losing their hair."
Griffiths has worked with cancer patients and offers her services free to breast cancer survivors.
"I became interested in permanent makeup when I went through some health problems," Griffiths said. "My technician was very compassionate, it touched my heart. I began thinking about becoming certified too and since I had been an artist for years I thought I could use that to help others."
The technique Griffiths uses is made from iron oxide, distilled water, alcohol and glycerin. According to Griffiths, all the ingredients are safely implanted into the skin using a machine similar to tattooing. The procedure is considered permanent because the color is implanted into the skin and cannot be removed by washing.
Griffiths will be offering spray tanning in the future too at Amanda's. She is currently available on Fridays by appointment. She can be reached at (928) 864-8138.
Cassandra Manifee is a new cosmetologist at Amanda's. She grew up in northern Arizona and lives on the Diamond A ranch near Seligman with her rancher husband and their two young children.
Manifee received her certification from Empire Beauty School in Flagstaff in 2010. She has been working at a cosmetologist for four years in Seligman.
"I have been working out of my home and a small shop in Seligman," Manifee said. "I started bringing my kids to a homeschool co-op in Williams on Tuesdays and thought it would be a good opportunity to meet some clients here."
Manifee's services include cuts, styling, color, healthy hair treatments and Brazilian Blowouts. She also does nail gels.
"I do a lot of men's cuts too," Manifee said.
Manifee is available on Tuesdays by appointment. She can be reached at (928) 925-7898.
Amanda's Beauty Box is a full service salon. The staff offers hair, nail and skin treatments and they have a certified massage therapist. The business is currently offering holiday specials and gift certificates. They currently are offering $10 off a one-hour massage gift certificate.
