Health Fair at Williams Clinic to feature free health screenings
WILLIAMS, Ariz. - Free health screenings and other health resources will be available at North Country HealthCare (NCHC) Williams Clinic's Health Fair and Open House this Saturday.
The 23rd annual event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at 301 S. Seventh St.
The event started in the 1990s when the community approved a tax subsidy to help the clinic offer urgent care services after hours. The clinic staff decided to offer the health fair to thank the community for its support.
"This is something we do annually for the community, and the reason why is because we want individuals to come in and get an opportunity to get not only some free screenings for various things, but also to see what other resources are available for healthcare and other services in our town," Clinic Manager Jeff Axtell said.
Cholesterol screenings, blood pressure checks, glucose screenings and flu shots will be available from North Country HealthCare's Williams Clinic staff.
"A lot of people don't do anything until there's a problem, and so really the health fair is kind of a screening for people coming to check in," Axtell said. "It's kind of a way to come in and see how things are looking and if we find a problem we can kind of address it. But it's a very easy inexpensive way for people to just kind of get a good health check of where they're standing."
