Addresses needed for Christmas Boxes

Addresses are needed by Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) for military personnel addresses to send Christmas boxes. Personnel who haven't moved or have the same address as last year need to resubmit the address to ESA. The addresses are needed before Nov. 30. Anyone wanting to help put boxes together can volunteer at the Methodist Social Hall at 1 p.m. on Nov. 30. More information is available from Dorothy Miller at 635-4330 or Vicki Andros at 635-1420.

Auxiliary to donate food, sell wreaths

The Ladies Auxiliary for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12128 will collect items for the Williams Food Bank on Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The auxiliary members will donate the items during the Nov. 14 chamber mixer.

The Ladies Auxiliary members will also continue to sell wreath sponsorships for the Wreaths Across America. People can sponsor a wreath for $15 or buy two for $30 and a third will be donated for free.

Donations and sales will take place at 117 W. Route 66.

Free Teen Mental Health awareness Nov. 17

The Williams Unified School District and the Guidance Center will put on a free Teen Mental Health community awareness event on Nov. 17. The event will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Williams Elementary-Middle School auditorium. Presenters will discuss suicide risk factors, warning signs for suicide, tips on how to assess and talk about suicide with your kids, warning signs for drug and alcohol abuse and other mental health issues, what to do if you detect these signs and resources for help. Chamber of Commerce seeking annual lighting contest applicants

The Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce is seeking applicants for its annual lighting contest as part of the Mountain Village Holiday celebration. This year's theme is "Christmas on Route 66."

Participating businesses must have lights installed between Nov. 7 and Jan. 3 and turned on from 6 to 9 p.m. Applications are due on Nov. 26. Businesses must install a minimum of 1,000 lights. Awards will be presented to entries that exhibit the best depiction of the theme in several different categories of businesses.

Residents must install a minimum of 500 lights to receive a $20 credit for their electric bill. Awards will be presented for the best lighting effect, best creativity, and best depiction of the theme.

TopsAz Chapter 0516 meets Tuesdays

Take off Pounds Sensibly, will have a weigh in at 8 a.m. followed by a meeting at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. The meeting will be held at 1133 Galewood Drive in Williams. More information is available from Diane Stapley at 928-635-9445.

Story Time at Williams Library

The Williams Library and North Country HealthCare Healthy Steps program have teamed up to provide a free story time on the first Tuesday of the month from 10 to 11 a.m. The story time is geared toward kids ages five and younger and pregnant moms to support healthy early development. Kiwanis collecting coats

Winter is here and the Williams Kiwanis Club is sponsoring its annual coat drive. The club especially needs children's coats. The Kiwanis Club gives the coats to the Williams Food Bank for distribution to needy families. Last year the club donated more than 400 coats. Kiwanis started the coat drive Oct. 1 and it will continue through May 1. Those interested in donating may drop off coats at the Williams Recreation Center or at Williams Realty. Holiday mixer Friday

The Williams-Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce will put on mixer on Nov. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. The mixer will take place at the Williams Food Bank, 200 S. Ninth St. and will also benefit the organization. Attendees are asked to bring food items to donate to the food bank's holiday food drive. The mixer will include appetizers, raffle prizes and more. Two free programs offered to community

The Williams Recreation Department and Williams Unified School District are offering two free programs to the community.

On Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. high school age and adult basketball will take place in the Williams Elementary-Middle School (WEMS) gym. Skills are required. There will be no program on Nov. 26.

On Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. open gym for eighth graders and younger will take place in the WEMS gym. Activities include basketball, volleyball, dodge ball, jump rope and twister. There will be no program on Nov. 27.

Messiah concert Nov. 16

The Master Chorale of Flagstaff and the Yavapai College Master Chorale will put on a concert of Handel's "Messiah" on Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ardrey Auditorium on the Northern Arizona University campus. The audience is encouraged to bring their Messiah scores and sing along with the chorales. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, $8 for students and free for children ages 12 and younger.

Turkey shoot Nov. 15

The Williams Sportsman's Club will put on a turkey shoot fundraiser on Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event takes place at the Williams Shooting Range on Highway 64, just north of the I-40 overpass turn left at the sign.

Craft Show Nov. 29

The 11th annual holiday craft show takes place Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sultana Theater, 301 W. Route 66. More than 35 vendors will be on hand. Attendees can also have pictures taken of family, friends and pets to benefit the SAVE-Meant to Rescue animal shelter.

Enchilada sale to benefit SAVE-MTR

An enchilada sale is taking place from now until Nov. 21 to benefit SAVE-Meant to Rescue. The cost is $10 per dozen for cheese or cheese and onion enchiladas. Pickup will be on Nov. 25 at the Sultana Theater. More information is available from Tora at (928) 635-1113 or Robynn at (928) 635-4726.

Fundraising to purchase stuffed penguins for Community Dinner

Avon representative Virginia Quinn is raising money to purchase a Paddy the baby penguin stuffed animal for every child who attends the Community Holiday Dinner on Dec. 14. Quinn needs to purchase 200 penguins for the dinner, and donations of $20 are needed for each penguin. Big Buck contest on through Jan. 31

A Big Buck contest and raffle is open to all units south of Grand Canyon. The hunter to score the widest buck (outside to outside) will win a PSE Surge Bow with full package.

The contest ends Jan. 31, 2015 and the drawing takes place Feb. 1 at The Outdoor Store.

Laugh Yoga Wednesdays

The Williams Laugh Synergy Laughter Club will meet for free Humpday Laugh Yoga on Wednesday nights from 6 to 6:45 p.m. at the Sultana Theater, 305 W. Route 66.

Laughter Yoga is non-political, non-religious and non-competitive. Participants laugh for better health, joy, world peace or no reason at all. It is based on the philosophy of "acting happiness" and is a physically oriented technique, not a mental practice. Laughter is an efficient way to express and release tension in a positive manner.
