During patriotic holidays and special events, residents and visitors will see the American flag on display along the Route 66 loop. American Legion Cordova Post 13 volunteers place the flags in sleeves in the sidewalk in front of businesses that donate a $25 annual subscription. The Legion uses these donations to maintain, repair and replace the 70 flags and wooden flagpoles as necessary. In the coming weeks, Legion volunteers will be visiting local businesses to seek donations and prepare for upcoming holidays. The Legion is proud to provide this service to the community with support from local businesses. From left: Frank Maryn and Larry Gibler display some flags.
