Letter: Toys for Kids drive a success thanks to support of community

To the Editor:

The lives of 98 children were brightened during the holidays thanks to the generosity of the community of Williams in their support of the Williams Lions Club Toys for Kids Drive. Thanks to all of you who provided cash donations and wrapped or unwrapped gifts for the children.

Heartfelt thanks go to the businesses who allowed cards to be placed on their Christmas trees: National Bank of Arizona: Glenda Carter, manager; North Country Williams Health Care: Mary Case, administrator; and the Forest Service Williams Ranger District. In addition, Williams Rotary Club members provided gifts to the toy drive this year.

Coconino County Sheriff Deputies assisted with the distribution of gifts to outlying areas. Sarah McCrae Combs of the Williams Police Department facilitated the assignment of families to local community churches, schools and service groups in an extremely organized and professional manner.

The Williams Lions Club has been operating the Toys for Kids drive each Christmas season for 50 years. Although toy collection methods have changed, the donations from the community and the support of other civic organizations have been greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all your support!
