Photo: Arizona Railroad Museum acquires vintage boxcar
Al Richmond, president of the Arizona State Railroad Museum, is pleased to announce the museum's latest acquisition. The former 1952 vintage Santa Fe boxcar rolled into town and is currently stored in the Grand Canyon Railway yards. This car is in excellent shape and once restored will reflect the standard Santa Fe logo on one side and the other will feature Santa Fe's historic "The Grand Canyon Line" slogan. The boxcar, securing the load, and movement from Mountainair, N.M. was donated by BNSF. TTX Company donated the two flat cars required for the move and Hulcher Railroad Services donated the loading. Grand Canyon Railway is assisting with the storage of the car and Southwest Industrial Rigging unloaded it on Sept. 5. "We're very fortunate that so many companies and individuals have contributed historic artifacts and service for the museum. We could not do this without a single one of them," said Richmond.
