Williams Justice Court reaches out to veterans
A new idea is presently stirring in the Coconino County courts-the proposal to develop a Veteran's Court within our county court system. The idea originated with Legal Defender Gary Pearlmutter and was quickly taken up with interest by Superior Court Judge Joe Lodge, a veteran himself. A veteran's court would have the advantage of providing special services to address the unique factors involving veterans who have to appear in court. Recent studies have shown that an alarming number of returning veterans have had unfortunate issues requiring court appearances. A veteran's court could provide those veteran specific services to all who have served in our armed forces, regardless of time or type of military service. The Williams Justice Court plans to be a partner in bringing this unique court to our county. Please stay tuned for more details as the plan develops......
