The time is now to enter the Coconino County Fair
63rd annual summer event returns to Flagstaff Aug. 31-Sept. 3

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Coconino County celebrates the 63rd Annual Coconino County Fair: Fun for the Whole Herd on Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31-Sept. 3 at the County Fairgrounds in Fort Tuthill Park.

Residents are invited to partake in this all-American tradition by showcasing their best recipes, artwork, crafts, collections, livestock, home grown vegetables and flowers, which will be displayed during the fair at Fort Tuthill County Park, located 3 miles south of Flagstaff along Interstate17 at Exit 337.

Many departments give out special awards and prizes for exemplary entries. There are many possibilities for children to participate by entering an animal, craft or food item while standing the chance to win a traditional blue, red, white or green ribbon as well as other specialty prizes. Any participant who submits five entries or more in one department will receive complimentary fair admission.

Fair entry form deadlines for the following departments are fast approaching and are due by 5 p.m. on the following dates:

• Friday - Junior and Open Horse, Open Poultry, Open Rabbit, Open Sheep, Wool and Angora Goats.

• Aug. 3 - Fine Arts, Home Economics, Hobbies and Collections, Open Youth, and all 4-H livestock and non-livestock entries.

• Aug. 6 - Gems and Minerals.

• Aug. 10 - Agriculture and Horticulture and Floriculture.

Details on how to enter exhibits into the fair air can be found inside the 2012 Coconino County Fair Book, which can be picked up at County Parks and Recreation office at Fort Tuthill County Park, at county offices and many local businesses. Fair Book and entry forms are also available online at www.coconino.az.gov/parks. Completed and signed entry forms may be scanned and e-mailed to lcook@coconino.az.gov or mailed to 2446 Fort Tuthill Loop, Flagstaff, AZ 86001. Signed forms may also be faxed to (928) 774-2572 or dropped off at the County Parks and Recreation office.

Early bird county fair carnival tickets will be on sale starting Aug. 1 while supplies last.

Starting Aug. 1, carnival tickets may be purchased at County Parks and Recreation Office at Fort Tuthill County Park from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Tickets may also be purchased with a credit card by phone by calling (928) 679-8000. Processing fees apply.
